Hello let me introduce myself

My name is Nikki Brown, I am better known as The UK Dog Whisperer and have earned my reputation as The Canine Angel. Born in 1972, I have spent a lifetime gathering experience in communicating with the canine species and has the astounding ability to truly understand the mind and behaviour of the dog.

Qualified in both human and dog psychologyand an Associate Member Of The Canine Behaviour Centre in Cumbria, I have helped countless pet owners all over the world, find real solutions to their pets health and behavioural problems using my vast knowledge, experience, and amazing ability to communicate with the canine species.

I would say I am far more than just a dog trainer and I believe that many of the current dog training methods are still very out dated and do not provide all the answers to your dog’s behavioural and health related problems. Whilst dog training is a very important part of learning how to bond with your pet dog, I believe there is far more to know about taking this species into your home and knowing how to care for all of its needs, including its diet and health and knowing what really is best for our canine friends.

My Background Story

My love and passion for dogs started from the moment I was born. I loved nothing better than to squeal with delight and throw my arms around any dog I met, much to my mothers worry!

However I just knew how to approach dogs and treat them with the respect and love they deserved and I just had this amazing ability to understand what they were saying and communicate back to them.

Like most children, I begged my family for my very own dog , every week I would ask my mum ” Can we have a dog please mum? ” The answer always came back “No my love, it’s just not a good time at the moment.”

I used to get quite sad and upset at not being able to have my own dog, I just had this aching inside me and it wasn’t going away, I didn’t give up, without fail, I would ask and pray for my own little dog and I knew one day my wish would be granted!

I wished for just over 15 years! One sunny Saturday afternoon, my path crossed with a little stray dog, who ran out into the road in front of a car. I screamed out to this dog and it heard me and came running over to me, just missing the cars wheels by millimetres.As I looked down at this little dog, our eyes connected and we fell in love! and from that moment on, I had my own little dog!!

Jake The Little Rascall

Jake was my best friend.

He was a great dog, had so much character for such a little dog. He was great around the house, but we always had such nightmares out on the walk. I understands the problems dog owners can face as I have been through them myself.

Jake taught me the biggest lesson in dog leadership skills when one night I let him off the lead and he got hit by a car!

He suffered with massive internal injuries and sadly died in the vet’s the following day.That day has to go down as the worst day of my life! I felt a tremendous amount of guilt and sadness at what had happened!

I felt that if I had been a better dog owner, it wouldn’t have happened! Even though Jake was as good as gold around the house, I had no control of him when he was out on the walk.”  Does that sound familiar to you?

However, It was that terrible incident that drove me  to want to know more about the mind of a dog and how dogs and humans co habit together in today’s ever changing world.

I studied and qualified in both dog and human psychology but where I always say I learnt the most was during my five years travelling all over the world working in different animal sanctuaries gaining valuable insight and hands on experience with some of the most traumatised animals in the world.

Best Friends’ is America’s largest animal shelter and is situated in Angels Canyon in Utah. This is where I bought back very fond memories of the work I did with the animals out there. It is also where the inspiration for my business name Canine Angel came from.

I soon realised that what I was learning was valuable and I wanted to pass my wealth of knowledge and experience on to others, teaching them what I had learnt about the interaction between human and canine species.

Canine Angel was born!

Back in August 2008, my dream of being able to go full time with helping other with their canine problems came true.

After years of study and gaining hands on experience with dogs I finally gave birth to Canine Angel and haven’t looked back since.

I was in the position finally in the position to help thousands of dogs all over the world, find a more balanced and healthy life. It was the time that I felt ready to let the past go and become a pack leader all over again, this time with over 10 years of dog handling experience behind me. I wanted to help a very special dog, one with lots of problems, one that i could use all my skills and knowledge to help turn around.

My final thought goes out to Jake, without him, I would not be where I am today and it is because of him that I am following my passion to help others and give them a helping hand with their dog.
